Maria Chiara Noto is Head of the International Relations and Space Diplomacy at the International Space Agency, where she works since 2016. Maria Chiara Noto holds a Ph.D. in International and European Law from the University of Milan. She earned a Master's degree in International Law from the University of Nice, France, and completed the Master's program in Institutional and Space Policies at the Società Italiana per l'Organizzazione Internazionale (SIOI). Additionally, she obtained a Degree in Law from the University of Parma. With 15 years of experience in academic research and teaching, Maria Chiara Noto has contributed significantly in International Law, including in the international fields, both in Italy and abroad. She has an impressive career in the legal and research fields, with a focus on international and EU law. She is Legal Advisor for the sector of Navigation and Satellite Telecommunications at the Italian Space Agency. She is delegate to the UN-COPUOS, ESA-IRC, and support as advisor the Italian Delegation to the EU (EUSPA-AB and Space Programme Committee-GEC) and ESA (PB-NAV and JCB) international boards, drawing up periodic reports relating to the meetings, analyzing documents and evaluating potential legal implications. She has held positions as a Legal Advisor for the Armed Forces, a Lawyer in International and European Law involved, and a Post Doc research fellow at the Italian Space Agency. Her roles have involved legal consultation, administrative support, and responsibility for European research funding programs at the Italian Ministry of University and Research. Additionally, she has been involved in academic and research activities at the University of Parma, Milan and Bedfordshire in London, including teaching, research projects, and participation in European initiatives related to maritime safety and security. Her expertise also extends to international legal issues, including aerospace, human rights and environmental law.
