Dr Muhammad Sharif is an Advisor and Director of Science and Environment at the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) at HQ Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco. Dr Sharif is an Associate Professor at Leibniz Institute for Catalysis, Rostock, Germany, President of the African Branch (55 countries) of International Engineering and Technology Institute and Adjunct Professor at the University of Lahore, Pakistan. Dr Sharif is an architect of several international initiatives, which include the ICESCO Accelerator program for 54 countries, the ICESCO International Aerospace Symposium and Model Satellite (CanSat) training workshops Initiative for member states, ICESCO’s Food Security Initiative for the Sahel Region and the Global Space Science Forum (GSSF). Dr Sharif has been instrumental in setting up several ICESCO scientific chairs which includes, the International Space University on Space Science Applications, the Sultan Qaboos University Oman on “Remote Sensing”, the Qauid-I-Azam University Islamabad Pakistan on Big Data Analytics & Edge Computing, the National University of Science and Technology Pakistan on Data Science and Analytics for Business, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) on Sustainable Engineering, the Baku State University Azerbaijan on Biomedical Materials. Dr Sharif has also been instrumental in facilitating several hundreds of fully funded scholarships for ICESCO member states. Dr Sharif has received several international recognition for his contributions to women and society, which includes, Honorary Deputy Sherrif of Philadelphia awarded by Office of the Sherrif Philadelphia 2023, Professional Leadership Award 2023 from Justina Mutale Foundation, Certificate of Achievement in recognition of Empowering Women and Girls: Shaping the Digital Age from The Pennsylvania House of Representative, Awarded by Speaker: Honorable Joannaa E. Mcclinton, The Flag of United States of America, in nonrecognition of contributions as leading light that Inspires and Motivates Women around the World to Take Up the Leadership Roles, Awarded by Congressman Honorable Brian K. Fitzpatrik. Dr Sharif has presented the organisation as a guest of honour, keynote, featured, and plenary speaker at ministerial, high-level conferences and meetings. Prior to joining ICESCO, Dr Sharif was serving as an Associate Professor at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He earned his degree from Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT) and the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Rostock, Germany. He held various research positions within academia and industrial environments throughout his career, with major emphasis on materials synthesis and catalytic process development. Dr Sharif is also an entrepreneur with experience in technology development and commercialisation for diverse applications in upstream, downstream, petrochemical and construction chemical industries. Prior to his employment at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, he was also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at COMSATS Institute of Information and Technology, Abbottabad, Pakistan, Senior Scientist, Team Leader and Head of Bulk Chemical Labs at Leibniz-Institute for Catalysis Rostock, Germany. His research experience and expertise span a wide range of topics in the development of new materials, their application in industrially relevant applications, Pharmaceuticals, Organic Synthesis, Applied catalysis, such as Synthetic organic & Organometallics, Homogeneous/Heterogeneous Catalysis, Catalyst Separation and Recycling, Nanotechnology, Olefin Polymerisation & Oligomerisation, Hydroformylation, CO2 Utilisation, C-H activation. Dr Sharif is also a member & Chartered Chemist at the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), American Chemical Society (ACS), Saudi-American International Chemical Society, member of the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI) and German Chemical Society. Scientific Review Panel member for various organisations. Dr Sharif is also an Expert-Reviewer Panel Member for different thesis committees at Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. Expertise in catalyst (homogeneous, heterogeneous, nanomaterials and pharmaceuticals) synthesis, development, screening and process development. Dr Sharif has more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 5 published/issued patents with 6 patent applications filed. Dr Sharif has delivered more than 200 public talks, seminars, presentations around the world at international forums, which include, as Plenary, Keynote speaker, public seminar, motivational talks as well as talk in different events at Space Symposium USA, Space Technology conferences, chemical industries, e.g, Evonic Germany, Saudi Aramco, Sipchem, Halliburton, Honeywell and Dhahran Techno Valley KSA.
