Dr Matthew O. Adepoju is the Director General / Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency. He was previously the Director of Strategic Space Applications Department of the National Space Research and Development Agency. He is a Fellow and the immediate past President of the Geoinformation Society of Nigeria. He is a Geospatial Scientist with over twenty publications in both national and international journals and conference proceedings. His research spans a broad spectrum of applications areas on Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science advances with successful project implementation and expert workshops for the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), United Nations (UN-FAO), World Bank (through NEWMAP), ECOWAS, UN-HABITAT, Universal Basic Education Commission and GRID3 (CIESIN) as the Chairman Project Implementation Team for Nigeria, etc. He is an Alumnus of great Institutions: Yaba College of Technology (HND), Lagos State University, (PgDip.), University of Nottingham, UK (MSc.) and University of Leicester UK, (PhD). He has multidisciplinary, academic and professional background from urban and regional planning to geographic information science and remote sensing. His research has focused on environmental studies, disaster management, geospatial-intelligence, socio-economic, population studies and many more for sustainable development. He is also an active member of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Member of the Group on Earth Observation, (GEO), AARSE, ISPRS, IEEE-GRSS amongst others. He is a great team player and mentor with good communication, presentation and motivational skills and an intuitive ability to make people work towards realisation of their potentials. He is happily married with great children.
