Mr. Pianos Gweme is the Acting Director General of the Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency (ZINGSA). ZINGSA is a state-owned Institute under Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation Science and Technology Development and is responsible for promoting peaceful use of space. Mr P. Gweme has more than 20years experience in various managerial positions. Mr P. Gweme was educated at the University of Zimbabwe and graduated with a Bsc Hons Degree Geographic Information Science. In addition he hold a Master of Technology. Mr Gweme is one of the founding members of ZINGSA and since its establishment has made remarkable contributions towards the growth and development of the agency and the space sector in the Republic of Zimbabwe. He superintended over the design manufacture and launch of Zimbabwe’s first satellite ZIMSAT-1 and ZIMSAT-2, development of National Wetland master plan, revision of Zimbabwe agro ecological regions, capacity building, establishing relationships of cooperation on regional and international scale, facilitating ZINGSA’s participation in space-related regional and international programmes and also ensures that ZINGSA responds to national requirements through provision of Geospatial, Space Science and Earth Observation data for national development.
