Mr Hambani Masheleni is currently the Acting Director of the Department of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the African Union Commission. Mr Masheleni has a broad range of training and work experience in the private, parastatal and public sectors. He holds an M.Sc in Applied Physics covering a broad range of career paths, which include development policy formulation and implementation in education, science, technology, innovation and space. Currently, Mr Masheleni and his teams are engaged in the implementation of continental strategies of education (CESA 16 -25), Science, Technology and Innovation (STISA-2024) and the African Space Policy and Strategy to contribute to the overall goals of the African Union Agenda 2063.
