Prof. Anthony Gidudu
Anthony Gidudu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geomatics and Land Management at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda and is currently serving as the Dean of the School of the Built Environment. He holds a BSc. in Surveying from Makerere University, an MSc. in Environmental Monitoring from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom and a PhD in Geomatics from the University of Cape Town, in South Africa. He did his post-doctoral research at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. His passion is in inspiring the next generation of Geospatial scientists to leverage Earth Observation to address Africa’s societal challenges. His teaching and research on various projects have seen him work at the interface of remote sensing and machine learning, land cover mapping and monitoring of air pollution, water quality, Green House Gas Emissions, etc. He has coordinated various geospatial-related projects and trainings at national, regional and international levels, the most recent being the Education Lead of the RCMRD/GMES and Africa Consortium funded by the European Union through the African Union.
