Mr. Tomohiro Ogawa is a career officer at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), currently serving as the Head of the Space Team within the Office for Science, Technology and innovation, and Digital Transformation Governance and Peacebuilding Department. He leads JICA’s efforts in promoting international cooperation in the space sector, integrating space-based technologies into development programs to support governance, peacebuilding, and sustainable growth. He holds a master’s degree in the University of Tokyo, graduate school of public policy earned in 2021. That same year, he joined JICA and was assigned to the Southeast Asia Department, where he managed ODA projects in Cambodia and Laos in the fields of education, governance, and the global environment. In 2022, he was posted to Cambodia, where he worked closely with local stakeholders and development partners on the ground, gaining valuable experience in field-level cooperation. Since 2023, he has been leading JICA’s space cooperation initiatives, fostering partnerships with space agencies, academic institutions, and international organizations to apply space technologies for solving development challenges in emerging and developing countries.
