Senior-Colonel Mohamed-Ali Amri is the Director-General of the National Center for Cartography & Remote Sensing (CNCT) of Tunisia, a position he has held since 2024. With over three decades of distinguished service in the Tunisian Armed Forces and extensive leadership in geospatial sciences, he brings deep expertise in remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), national spatial data infrastructure, and defense strategy. Senior-Colonel Amri has held progressive leadership roles across communications, remote sensing, mapping, and geospatial intelligence. His professional trajectory reflects deep technical expertise combined with strategic leadership, having served in progressively senior roles including Inspector at the General Inspection of Tunisian Armed Forces, Director of Operations & Production, Deputy Director of the Mapping Division and Director of Quality Control, Standards, and Technical Validation at the National Center for Cartography & Remote Sensing, and various directorate positions focused on research and development, and geographic information systems. Senior Colonel Amri plays a prominent role in regional and international geospatial governance. Since 2012, he has served as Tunisia's representative on the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management and has represented Tunisia on the Arab Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management since 2014. He currently serves as Vice President of the Arab Committee and was Chairman of the Board of the Regional Center for Remote Sensing of North Africa States. He also serves as National Coordinator for the implementation of Tunisia's National Spatial Data Infrastructure project and is a member of the National Commission for Outer Space Affairs.
